🇬🇧 EVAPORATION. recently, on the radio, i heard the testimony of someone who decided to disappear on his own will during several years before reappearing and acknowleding that he gained self-esteem from that experience. this phenomenon in Japan and Korea is called jōhatsu (蒸発) and 증발 (chungpal), which means « evaporation ». the idea that identity and existence, like water, experience different states through which they transit and are in perpetual move spoke a lot to me. watercolor and ink, 50x35cm. january 2024.
